SKI UTAH 101

A Primer on a Familiar Name

You know the name. It’s right there on the Utah license plate. But, if you’re riding a chairlift and someone asks, “Just what is Ski Utah?” could you tell them? Chances are, if you’re reading this you know a thing or two about Ski Utah. However, if you’re not exactly sure what these names mean you’re not alone. So, here’s the skinny:

The Utah Ski and Snowboard Association is a non-profit trade organization founded in 1975 with the aim of promoting Utah’s ski and snowboard industry. Our membership represents resorts, lodging, transportation, retail, restaurants and other ski or snowboard related services. The Utah Ski and Snowboard Association is governed by a 21-member board of directors elected from its membership.

Ski Utah is a marketing company owned and operated by the Utah Ski and Snowboard Association. Ski Utah is also the brand name by which both organizations are commonly referred to. The mission of Ski Utah is “to create awareness of and demand for the Utah ski and snowboard industry services and products.” Ski Utah publishes the annual Ski Utah Winter Vacation Planner which is distributed to 450,000 skiers and snowboarders each season.

Ski Utah maintains the skiutah.com, rideutah.com and skiutahlocals.com websites
